ZAGREB, July 20 (Hina) - There are no and will be no factions within the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), the party president Ivo Sanader told a news conference on Thursday, held after a session by the party presidency, which
discussed media claims regarding intra-party factions. There is room for different political views in the party, Sanader said, adding the atmosphere in the party was one of pluralism and some issues were resolved from different positions. He added the HDZ would lean neither to the left nor to the right, but would remain a party of the political centre. Jadranka Kosor, a party vice president, recalled that in early June the HDZ had opened a phone line for citizens' complaints. By today, when the line was closed, between 15 and 20 calls were made daily. Jadranka Kosor, a party vice president, recalled that in early June
the HDZ had opened a phone line for citizens' complaints. By today,
when the line was closed, between 15 and 20 calls were made daily.
Most of those who called, asking that their names not be made
public, spoke about replacements in the ministries of interior,
foreign affairs and defence, as well as in public and state
companies. According to some complaints, some persons who sought
employment in state companies were asked if they were HDZ members,
Kosor said.
