Daytona Beach Mayor Asher is the originator of a similar event which
attracts a far larger number of motor cyclists to this US town in
Florida.
A Pula municipal delegation last year visited Daytona Beach.
Asher informed Zupic that Daytona Beach meetings, which are held
every March and last ten days, attract about 500,000 bikers from all
over the world, who spend about 500 million dollars.
The Pula mayor expressed satisfaction with the fact that the number
of participants in the Pula biker days is increasing every year.
The event continues today with a music and entertainment programme
including rock concerts, biker parties, driving skill
competitions, striptease shows, mud-wrestling and box matches for
women and the consumption of large quantities of beer. The bikers
will also be entertained by the Croatian boxing legend Mate Parlov
and his rock band.
