BRUSSELS, July 18 (Hina) - The European Commission issued a statement in Brussels on Tuesday saying it had granted an EUR10 million aid package for refugee returns in Croatia. The statement says half a million people were forced to
leave their homes due to armed conflicts in Croatia. The EC assesses that despite peace agreements which emphasised the priority of refugees and displaced persons returning to their homes, the percentage of people who did return is very low. To step up refugee returns, the EC today granted EUR10 million for OBNOVA, a reconstruction programme for 2000.
