ZAGREB, July 11 (Hina) - The Croatian National Sabor's commission
for the establishment of circumstances of the sale of Croatia's
daily "Vecernji List" will pass decisions by the end of the week,
said president of the commission Josko Kontic Tuesday.
"I do not wish to jump with conclusions", said Kontic after today's,
closed for public, session of the commission.
Kontic avoided to directly answer a reporter's question whether a
motion for the annulment of the transformation of the "Vecernji
List" would be included in the decisions.
The commission was established by the Sabor over three months ago
with a task to determine circumstances of the sale of the Croatian
daily with the greatest circulation. The commission examined 15
witnesses, directly or indirectly involved in the transformation
of the daily, including a former close associate of late Croatian
President Franjo Tudjman, Ivic Pasalic. There have been
speculations that Pasalic organised the purchase of the daily for
the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
The Pension Fund sold the majority package of the Vecernji List
stocks to a company from the Virgin Islands whose owner remained
anonymous, Caritas Fund, founded immediately before the public bid
between Christmas and New Year holidays.
Kresimir Zubak and Ivica Nuic recently announced their companies
were the real owners of the daily and that they purchased the stocks
package legally.
