PULA, July 9 (Hina) - Port authorities and local salvage teams were engaged all the night off the western coast of Istria, after a gale struck the area of Rovinj and Porec. Five persons, of whom three kids were, were salvaged from a
German yacht. One Italian boat with 10 person aboard was rescued and two persons were evacuated from another Italian boat. According to a report Pula port authorities released on Sunday, there were no human casualties during the strong storm on late Saturday night. Two Croatian fishermen saved their own lives when they managed to swim to the coast after their boat had sunk due to the inclement weather. In addition, five boats owned by Croatian citizens sank and three foreign vessels were badly damaged during the storm.
