ZAGREB, July 8 (Hina) - The Istrian village of Svetvincenat, where
Croatian director Vinko Bresan shot his film 'The Marshall' last
year, will host the first Istrian festival of dance and non-verbal
theatre on July 21-24.
The festival will gather dance troupes from Italy, Spain, Brazil,
Cuba, the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, France and
Croatia.
Every evening, the festival programme will start with street
theatre, followed by stage performances, concerts and programmes
by video artists, the festival's art director Snjezana Abramovic
told reporters on Saturday.
Abramovic said the idea behind this event was to make a small dance
community in Svetvincenat, which, along with dancers, playwrights
and choreographers, would also gather directors of dance
festivals, who would discuss future projects.
She hoped that Svetvincenat would in this way become another site of
cultural events in Croatia, along with the Istrian music town
Groznjan and the film town Motovun.
Between July 17 and 21, two dance workshops will take place in
Svetvincenat. They will be headed by Emilio Guterrez from Spain and
Tamara Huilmand from the Netherlands. Participation in the
workshops and performances are free of charge.
The festival will also include a project called 'Taste Croatia' by
'Sonomedia' company, which is aimed at presenting Croatia's
autochtonous gastronomy.
