and a delegation visiting Denmark on Wednesday held talks with
representatives of the Confederation of Danish Industries
discussing possibilities of Danish investments in Croatia's
economy.
Confederation director Joergen Hansen said Denmark was interested
in investing in Croatia's shipbuilding, tourism, the food-
processing and power-supply industries, and environmental
protection.
A delegation of the Confederation, which is an association of
Danish employers, should visit Croatia in the first half of 2001 to
hold talks with Croatian businessmen in view of formulating
concrete possibilities for Danish investments in Croatia's
economy.
The Croatian delegation today visited the plant of the Carslberg
brewery. During talks, Carlsberg's representatives said they would
like to increase their share in beer production on the Croatian
market. They have a ten-percent share in Croatian brewery Panonska
Pivovara, as co-owners with Croatian food manufacturer Podravka.
Croatia's Economy Minister Goranko Fizulic held talks at Denmark's
Ministry of Finance, where he appealed for financial support
necessary to open a Danish embassy in Zagreb. Denmark's Foreign
Ministry is already advocating this initiative, and the embassy is
expected to be opened before 2002, when Denmark assumes presidency
over the European Union.
