VATICAN, July 4 (Hina) - Pope John Paul II on Tuesday received Croatian President Stipe Mesic and held private, 15-minute talks. Upon the arrival of the Croatian President and a delegation to Vatican, the Croatian National Anthem was
played in the yard of the Apostle Palace for the first time. John Paul II welcomed Mesic outside of his library and greeted him in Croatian. After the talks, President Mesic introduced the Pope to the Croatian delegation. Mesic presented the Pope with the statue of Jesus Christ made by Jozo Vrdoljak, and a book on Croatian King Tomislav.
