ZAGREB, June 26 (Hina) - Croatian President Stipe Mesic and NATO's Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, Klaus Peter Klaiber, on Monday held talks on the situation in the region. Klaiber is participating in a two-day
seminar on democratic control of armed forces, which has been organised in Zagreb by NATO. Klaiber said he and Mesic had very interesting talks on the development of the situation in the region, especially regarding the critical situation in Kosovo and developments in Serbia. He welcomed and described as encouraging Croatia's efforts to draw closer to Euro-Atlantic associations. This is a strong and important signal to all countries in the region that the policy of conflict does not lead anywhere, Klaiber said, adding countries in the region had to cooperate and establish stability if they wanted to develop.(hina) rml
