HAMBURG, June 23 (Hina) - Representatives of the Croatian national
airline company Croatia Airlines took over a new Airbus A319 plane
in Hamburg on Friday.
Taking over the last of six planes ordered from the French company
Airbus Industrie, Croatia Airlines has completed the first stage of
the renewal of its fleet, which now consists of 10 planes - seven
Airbus A319 and A390 and three ATR planes. #L#
The new Croatia Airlines acquisition, called 'Pula', will take off
for its first commercial flight from Zagreb to Amsterdam on June 27.
A319 plane is one of the most economical middle-range passenger
planes and it has 132 seats.
The renewal of the Croatia Airlines fleet, worth 272 million
dollars, was agreed on in January 1997 with the French company
Airbus Industrie. Along with the delivery of six Airbus 319 and 320
planes in the period between 1998 and 2000, the contract also
includes options for the order of more planes.
Croatia signed a contract on financing the purchase of Airbus
planes with a syndicate of 12 European banks headed by the
Bayerische Landesbank.
Today's take-over ceremony was attended, along with other
officials, also by Transport Minister Alojz Tusek.
