TIRANA, June 17 (Hina) - Croatia's President Stjepan Mesic on Saturday evening finished his two-day official visit to Albania. At the Tirana airport where he was seen off by his host, Albanian President Rexep Meidani, Mesic was given a ceremonial send-off. Prior to his departure to Zagreb, the Croatian head of state held a news conference at the Rogner Hotel in Tirana.#L# He described his visit as successful, and reiterated that during his talks with Albanian top officials, they agreed that excellent political bilateral ties should be followed by better cooperation in the economic and other sectors. One of first steps in that direction would be the settlement of the issue of the visa regime between the two countries, he added. Mesic asserted that his country and Albania had similar objectives: to join European integration processes and NATO. Commenting on the Kosovo issue, Mesic said Kosovo had chosen its own path towards Europe. He added that, regardless of their formal ties with Serbia, Kosovo would, like Montenegro, freely decide on coming closer to Europe. Mesic called on Croatian citizens of the Serb descent to return to their homeland as Croatia offered them security, stability, jobs and equality of all its subjects. (hina) ms
