TIRANA, June 17 (Hina) - Croatia's President Stjepan Mesic on Saturday evening finished his two-day official visit to Albania. At the Tirana airport where he was seen off by his host, Albanian President Rexep Meidani, Mesic was given
a ceremonial send-off. Prior to his departure to Zagreb, the Croatian head of state held a news conference at the Rogner Hotel in Tirana.
TIRANA, June 17 (Hina) - Croatia's President Stjepan Mesic on
Saturday evening finished his two-day official visit to Albania. At
the Tirana airport where he was seen off by his host, Albanian
President Rexep Meidani, Mesic was given a ceremonial send-off.
Prior to his departure to Zagreb, the Croatian head of state held a
news conference at the Rogner Hotel in Tirana.#L#
He described his visit as successful, and reiterated that during
his talks with Albanian top officials, they agreed that excellent
political bilateral ties should be followed by better cooperation
in the economic and other sectors. One of first steps in that
direction would be the settlement of the issue of the visa regime
between the two countries, he added.
Mesic asserted that his country and Albania had similar objectives:
to join European integration processes and NATO.
Commenting on the Kosovo issue, Mesic said Kosovo had chosen its own
path towards Europe. He added that, regardless of their formal ties
with Serbia, Kosovo would, like Montenegro, freely decide on coming
closer to Europe.
Mesic called on Croatian citizens of the Serb descent to return to
their homeland as Croatia offered them security, stability, jobs
and equality of all its subjects.
