SARAJEVO, June 8 (Hina) - One of the most infamous commanders of Bosnian Serb paramilitary units, Ljubisa Savic, was killed on Wednesday in the north-eastern Bosnian town of Bijeljina, local police authorities confirmed on Thursday. A
police statement carried by Radio Television Republika Srpska said Savic, known also as Mauser, was killed in an ambush. According to available information, Savic's all-terrain vehicle had been shot at most probably from a machine-gun from another vehicle. The police are intensively searching for the perpetrator and his possible accomplices. Savic's murder was confirmed also by the spokesman of the U.N. Mission in Sarajevo, Douglas Coffman. During the Bosnian war, Savic commanded a paramilitary unit known as "The Panthers", which participated in military operations in north-east Bosnia.
