ZAGREB, June 5 (Hina) - In an effort to advance the share of rail transportation in the development of tourism, Croatian Railways (HZ) have considerably upgraded the quality of their services in the 2000/2001 timetable, reducing
prices and the time length of travelling on several lines. Ticket prices from Zagreb to Split, Sibenik, Zadar, Rijeka, all on the coast, and back, were reduced several months ago as part of the "Less Costly to the Adriatic" fare reduction. Now it will also take less time to reach destinations on the coast. Air-conditioning has been installed on trains to Split and Rijeka, while passengers who buy first class tickets for the Rijeka and Rivijera inter-city trains to Rijeka will receive a gift coupon giving them the possibility to buy free coffee, tea, or a newspaper. ZAGREB, June 5 (Hina) - In an effort to advance the share of rail
transportation in the development of tourism, Croatian Railways
(HZ) have considerably upgraded the quality of their services in
the 2000/2001 timetable, reducing prices and the time length of
travelling on several lines.
Ticket prices from Zagreb to Split, Sibenik, Zadar, Rijeka, all on
the coast, and back, were reduced several months ago as part of the
"Less Costly to the Adriatic" fare reduction. Now it will also take
less time to reach destinations on the coast.
Air-conditioning has been installed on trains to Split and Rijeka,
while passengers who buy first class tickets for the Rijeka and
Rivijera inter-city trains to Rijeka will receive a gift coupon
giving them the possibility to buy free coffee, tea, or a
newspaper.
New time-tables have been introduced for a couple of international
night trains from Ljubljana and Maribor, Slovenia, to Split in
southern Croatia, and back, three times a week and with sleeping
cars.
Sleeping cars will also be added to the Maestral and Mosor night
trains connecting Budapest and Split. Passengers travelling from
Split to Austria and Germany change trains by boarding the Croatia
to Vienna and the Mimara to Munich.
As last year, HZ will ensure bus transport from Split to Dubrovnik
in southern-most Croatia.
Commercial benefits in international transport include the Rail-
Plus which gives passengers of all age groups the possibility to buy
international tickets at a 25-percent reduction. The Munich
Special connection between Zagreb and Munich offers return tickets
for second class in all trains at half price.
Another new benefit is the HZ-SET, offering 30-percent lower prices
for one-way and two-way tickets to Yugoslavia, Greece, Macedonia,
Bulgaria, Turkey, or Romania. Return tickets with benefit to
Budapest and Balaton, Hungary, for groups with more than 30
passengers are cheaper by 70-percent.
