ZAGREB, May 29 (Hina) - The Union of Croatian mine-sweepers forwarded a letter to President Stipe Mesic Monday, suggesting the establishment of a mine-clearing agency which would merge the existing Croatian Mine Centre, the "Mungos"
mine-sweepers and Interior Ministry's mine-clearing forces. The merging into one agency would reduce the cost of clearing mines in Croatia and cease its commercialisation which brings great harm to the country, but is exploited by moguls, the letter said. The programme and ways of mine-clearing should be held at high place in the strategic plan of Croatia's development, the Union asserted. Representatives of the Union will on Thursday hold a meeting with President Mesic to discuss their suggestions.(hina) lml
