ZAGREB, May 18 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on
Thursday dismissed claims from 'Globus' daily saying he was
dissatisfied with the work of Interior Minister Sime Lucin.
"I am satisfied with Sime Lucin, but I am not satisfied with the
article which was published in 'Globus', because I have never said
that I am dissatisfied with Sime Lucin's work and that he is to be
blamed. What I did say, and what, for unknown reasons, has not been
published, was that the State Attorney's Office was the
'bottleneck'," Mesic said.
"The police and the Interior Ministry are doing their part of the
job, whereas the State Attorney's Office is the bottleneck due to
which all these scandals which are present in the media on a daily
basis are not resolved and processed," Mesic said.
According to Mesic, Minister Lucin is not part of the problem,
because he is doing his best, "however, he cannot do anything if
there is a bottleneck and if things are not being processed."
Asked whether Lucin would resign, Mesic answered with a question
"Why should he resign", adding resignations should be tendered by
some other officials.
