OHR ORDERS TEST OF PROFESSIONAL ABILITY OF JUDGES IN B-H FEDERATION

SARAJEVO, May 18 (Hina) - The international community's High Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Wolfgang Petritsch, on Thursday declared a new law on judges and prosecutors in the Bosnian Federation valid. The new law is about the selection of judges and prosecutors, their rights and obligations as well as their income. A spokesman for the Office of the High Representative (OHR), James Ferguson, said the new law also included an additional provision on testing the skilfulness and professionalism of the current judges in the Bosnian Moslem-Croat entity. A procedure of checking will last 18 months, and will be prolonged, if necessary, Ferguson said in Sarajevo. The contents of the law, imposed by the High Representative, have not yet been made public. After consultations with federal authorities, a special expert body will be set up to examine the skilfulness of the judges. Th
