headquarters of the Office for National Security (UNS) and held a working meeting. Ivica Racan on Wednesday visited the headquarters of the Office for
National Security (UNS) and held a working meeting.

Karamarko also spoke of the necessity to take back those services
within frameworks that can democratically serve the society and
carry out their basic duty - to protect Croatia's national

Mesic, Racan and Tomcic addressed the gathered at the session.
They commented on possibilities of abuse of security and
intelligence services in the field of human rights and freedoms.
They also spoke of their re-organisations and the definition of the
notion - national security - its subjects, objects and models of
democratic control.
Croatia's highest-ranking officials voiced wish that in the jobs of
intelligence and security services, exceptionally important for
the country, all relevant authorities may cooperate fully and co-
ordinate their activities. They said they hoped that full
democratic control be carried over the intelligence-security
system.
Present at the working meeting were Defence and Interior Ministers,
Jozo Rados and Sime Lucin respectively, Minister of Foreign Affairs
Tonino Picula and the head of the Sabor's committee for the internal
policy and national security, Djurdja Adlesic.
