NEW PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT AT HRT ESTABLISHED

ZAGREB, May 3 (Hina) - Director of Croatian Radio and Television (HRT) Mirko Galic told Wednesday's news conference about the completion of the process of constituting the new programme leadership and savings measures which the television must implement to be able to transform into a public medium. Temporary editor-in-chief Neda Ritz, editor of the information and news programme, Mirjana Rakic, and editor of the culture, entertainment and sports programme, Marija Nemcic, spoke about personnel changes and programme organisation. Speaking about the election of his closest associates, Galic stressed he had not been led by any political criteria, but exclusively professional. Their most important task is to begin the process of transformation from a state television into a public one, Galic said, asserting on the programme plan it was essential to implement the depolitisation of television and its programme. The second big operation of the new leadership is to stabilise the economic functioning of the television, without which a more ambitious rising of the programme level cannot be accomplished, Galic said. Asked about the new function of former editor-in-chief Obrad Kosovac, Mirjana Rakic said he was an editor and mentor at the documentary programme section. (hina) lml mm
