ZAGREB, April 30 (Hina) - On the first day of the work of the Fifth General Assembly of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), which ended Saturday evening, a new Statute of the party was adopted, electoral commission for the election
of the new HDZ leadership was constituted, and a discussion on a report of the HDZ activities was held. The Statute of the party, in line with which the jurisdiction of the HDZ Presidency would be decreased and the National Committee would receive the greatest role, was adopted by the majority of votes. According to vice president of the HDZ Ivic Pasalic, the new Statute will enable the democratisation and decentralisation of the party. All HDZ bodies would receive the greatest possible authorities, and the leadership of the party would have a significantly smaller impact on lower branches.
