The US$96 million-worth ships are intended for the transport of
4,300 cars. The first ship is to be delivered by autumn next year,
and the other two in February and April 2002.
The buyer is making an advance payment of 40 percent, while the rest
is to be paid once the ships are delivered.
Pointing to the importance of the contracts, Croatian Economy
Minister Goranko Fizulic said ships represent Croatia's true
export, accounting for 16 percent of the entire current export.
Fizulic called today's three contracts "the day when Croatia's
banking sector has returned to Croatia's shipbuilding."
