INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION IN FIRST QUARTER OF 2000 RISES BY 3%

ZAGREB, April 28 (Hina) - Industrial production in Croatia in the first quarter of 2000 increased by three percent in relation to the same period last year. In comparison to the last quarter last year (November-December), industrial production in the first three months of this year increased by 1.1 percent, the State Institute for Statistics reported. Statistical data show that production in manufacturing industry increased by 3.7 percent between January and March this year in relation to 1999, whereas production in the mining industry increased by 3.8 percent. At the same time, the production of power, gas and water decreased by 0.8 percent. Data by chief industrial groups show that in the first quarter of this year the production of durable consumer goods increased most - 16.8 percent. Statistical data show that production in manufacturing industry increased by 3.7 percent between January and March this year in relation to 1999, whereas production in the mining industry increased by 3.8 percent. At the same time, the production of power, gas and water decreased by 0.8 percent.
