ZAGREB ZAGREB, April 26 (Hina) - Illegally built seven-storey house in Zagreb's district of Gracani, in the ecologically protected zone beneath the mountain of Sljeme, was torn down on Wednesday. This is the first of 176 illegally
built houses which are to be torn down in Zagreb this year. The house was build in 1997 without the location permit. The authorities planted over 18 kilograms of explosives in the house in order to tear it down. During the demolition process, the porch roof of a neighbour house was damaged, however, construction inspectors told reporters the damage was minor and it would be repaired tomorrow. Croatian Environment Protection and Urban Planning Minister Bozo Kovacevic said Wednesday morning that the house was contradictory to basic demands of the quality building, namely it has poor mechanical resistance and the stability.(hina) it jn
