ZAGREB, April 26 (Hina) - A working group in charge of drafting
Croatia's informatics development, established by Croatian
President Stipe Mesic, held its first meeting Wednesday.
The working group, comprising computer scientists and experts in
various fields, should draw up a comprehensive strategy by mid-May,
and by mid-June a daft strategy with priority measures, the group's
chairman, Velimir Srica, said.
"The working group will attempt to strengthen the awareness of the
public about the need to draft a strategic document on the
development of Croatia, with an accent on informatisation and with
concrete measures and pilot-projects," Srica said.
The document will be made available to the public for discussion and
the working group will offer the Government for it to be included in
its strategic initiative.
Asked on whose financial support the working group was counting on,
Srica said "some funds have been envisaged by the Stability Pact for
similar projects," adding "there is great available capital in the
world which must be counted on, and can be attracted by good
projects".
Mesic's advisor for internal affairs, Igor Dekanic, assessed that
the drawing up of the strategy was "exceptionally important for the
future of Croatia and its technological development"
