LINIC: CRO GOVT CANNOT ACCEPT BLOCKADE OF ROADS

ZAGREB, April 10 (Hina) - Croatian Vice Premier for Economy Slavko Linic on Monday said the Croatian Government accepted and understood justified dissatisfaction of employees who were not receiving their wages, however, it could not accept blackmail and pressures by PIK Vrbovec agricultural coop employees who blocked road traffic near Vrbovec, some 40 kilometres east of Zagreb last week, and announced the blockade of Zagreb-Budapest railway. Had they blocked the railway, the Government would most likely intervened with units of the Croatian Interior Ministry, Linic stressed. "The Government accepts the dissatisfaction of employees expressed by protests staged near factories and outside the Government's building, however, it condemns the blockade of traffic", Linic stressed and adding that PIK employees blackmailed the Government, jeopardised safety of citizens, and caused damage to companies. Linic told a press confer

Linic told a press conference that the Government would conduct talks with trade unions to examine ways of expressing employees' dissatisfaction. PIK Vrbovec employees on Monday stopped a several-day blockade of road traffic in Vrbovec area and decided not to block the Zagreb- Budapest railway, after receiving a letter which read that funds for two advance payrolls and travel expenses for January and February have paid to PIK Vrbovec direct transfer account.
