SISAK, March 24 (Hina) - Representatives of the National mine action institute from Mozambique on Friday visited the Croatian Mine Action Centre (HCR) in Sisak, where they were informed about the systems of mine removal and detection
in Croatia. The head of Mozambique's mine action institute, Artur Domingos Verissimo, and an advisor with the institute, Captain Mark Yarmoshuk from Canada discussed cooperation with the Mine Action Centre's director Damir Gorseta and his associates. Around 4,500 square kilometres of land in Croatia are covered with about one to one million and 200,000 mines. Of that, only 250,000 mines have been detected while the rest is still to be detected and marked. The Mine Removal Centre has achieved significant results in the reduction of areas which are suspected of being mined with the help of the U.N.
