ZAGREB, March 22 (Hina) - An unemployment rate in Croatia has been climbing steadily, according figures released by to the Croatian Employment Agency. At the end of March, the number of those on the dole reached 355,272. This has been
the record high number of the jobless since February 1952 when the statistical registering of unemployment commenced. The unemployment rate rose by 4,500 persons (1.3 percent) in February as against January 2000, while the rate climbed by 41,500 persons (13.2 percent) as against February in 1999. The structure of occupations and professions of those who seek jobs has remained the same - the highest share (35 percent) of the unemployed are skilled and highly skilled workers. (hina) jn ms
