Workers Unions on Friday called on unions of the economy state
sector to show responsibility towards a difficult situation in the
country and to, along with unions of public and state services, urge
their members to make sacrifices.
"We ask that they demonstrate solidarity with teachers,
scientists, health care employees and other public workers, who
were the first and only ones who were urged to make sacrifices, read
the statement signed by president of the Council Vilim Ribic.
The economy state sector has significantly larger salaries that the
private sector in all 16 branches in the country. Seven branches,
namely the power supply, transportation, warehousing,
communications, financial transactions, mining, and local public
government, have larger average wages that education employees,
regardless of a significantly higher qualification structure in
education, Ribic stressed.
Of 11 public companies, only two have smaller salaries that
education employees, and education employees have greater
qualification structure than anyone else, Ribic stressed.
Therefore, their trade unions should express readiness to make
sacrifices, he added.
