DAVORIN TEPES APPOINTED ACTING PRESIDENT OF ZAGREB'S HDZ

ZAGREB, March 13 (Hina) - At Sunday evening's session, members of Zagreb's HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union) City Committee appointed Zagreb Deputy Mayor Davorin Tepec the acting president of the Committee. Acting president of the Croatian Democratic Union Vladimir Seks said this was a transition solution until April 8 when a new composition of Zagreb's HDZ City Committee would be elected at elections held within the party. Seks removed former president of the HDZ City Committee Zlatko Canjuga from his duties because Canjuga failed to ensure the stability of HDZ's majority in the City Assembly. At a press conference on Sunday, Canjuga reiterated accusations that HDZ acting president Seks and HDZ vice president Ivic Pasalic, by their actions, caused a division not only within the City HDZ, but the division of the entire party. Canjuga described Seks as a demolition man of the HDZ, adding that Seks gained authority by blackmail and pressure. (hina) it mm
