ZAGREB, March 9 (Hina) - The Association of Croatian Invalids of the
Croatian Homeland War (HVIDRA) denounces the bias role of the
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY)
which is not capable of investigating more than 90 per cent of
greater Serbian crimes in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina
and Kosovo, the Association said in a statement Thursday.
HVIDRA had on Monday protested in front of the US Embassy in Zagreb
against the ICTY's sentence read to General Tihomir Blaskic for 45
years in prison.
HVIDRA does not negate that the crime in Ahmici had happened, but
they hold that the true culprits had not been held responsible for
the crime, the statement said.
The association asked of the Croatian authorities, the European
Union and United Nations to "support the honourable intent of
establishing a permanent international war crimes court which
would punish crimes" committed in various parts of the world.
The indictment against Blaskic was used as pressure on the Croatian
side during negotiations in Dayton, so Bosanska Posavina could be
left to Republika Srpska.
With this, and with the abundant help of the United States, Republic
Srpska was awarded, a neo-nazi construction in Bosnia-Herzegovina,
the statement said.
The HVIDRA said the international community had had numerous
omissions and was "co-responsible for the conduct of the Belgrade
policy, even imposing an arms ban to attacked states".
