ZAGREB, March 1 (Hina) - Croatian Justice, Local Government and Self-Government Minister Stjepan Ivanisevic on Wednesday invited members of the State Judicial Council (DSV) to resign to their duties and demonstrate the level of
responsibility which public employees must have. At a press conference, Ivanisevic criticised the DSV, adding that it failed to punish certain judiciary employees for their work of poor quality. Ivanisevic said that the Judiciary Ministry would undertake concrete measures regarding the DSV, and the public would be informed of that later. "So far, the DSV has had 11 disciplinary proceedings, even though we discovered more evidence which give judiciary bad image, and which should have been penalised by the DSV" Ivanisevic said. Potrebica said he was satisfied with the so far work of the DSV.
Commenting the extradition of Mladen Naletilic Tuta to the
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY),
Ivanisevic said that a decision of non-extradition would be
cancelled as soon as an ICTY doctors' team evaluate Naletilic's
condition as satisfactory.
Ivanisevic said he was most probably to meet the ICTY prosecutor in
early April to reach an agreement for the Croatian Judiciary to
start processing crimes committed on its territory. We accepted
cooperation with the ICTY, and one of the modalities of
cooperation, however not the only one, is the extradition to the
court, Ivanisevic said and added that cases could also be tried
before Croatian courts.
