CANADIAN EMBASSY DONATES CAD33,000 TO CROATIAN NGOS

ZAGREB, Feb 21 (Hina) - The Canadian Embassy in Zagreb announced that it was donating CAD$33,000 to four Croatian non-government organisations to fund certain projects, the Canadian Embassy said in a statement on Monday. The Canadian Embassy donated CAD$10,000 to the International Rehabilitation Centre for Torture Victims in Zagreb to assist Bosnian refugees, currently living in Croatia, to return to their former homes. HORIZON will receive CAN$10,000 to develop a youth leadership centre to assist young people in Croatia to develop leadership and business skills. The Women's Association Vukovar will receive CAN$ 8,000 to provide home care and other medical and social assistance to older people in Vukovar Srijem County. The Croatian Red cross will receive CAN$5,000 to provide agricultural tools and seeds to assist people resettling in the Eastern Slavonia region to restart their farms. Canadian Ambassador to Croatia Donald W. Smith said, "these four projects were chosen from many worthwhile submissions because of their potential to help make significant improvements to the life of local communities in Croatia".
