SARAJEVO, Feb 17 (Hina) - The Independent Media Commission (IMC) on Thursday discontinued the broadcast of the southern Bosnia-Herzegovina town of Mostar's Erotel television by switching off a transmitter located north of Mostar, said
the IMC spokeswoman. IMC spokeswoman Zinaida Babovic told a press conference in Sarajevo that the operation was necessary in order to implement a decision of the IMC dated November, 1999 in line with which Erotel was asked to stop airing after it refused to accept a temporary airing permit, issued by IMC. An IMC team switched off the transmitter in the presence of Stabilisation Force (SFOR) members, Babovic said. Deputy High Representative for media Simon Haselock said that the broadcast of the Croatian Television's Channel One in Bosnia-Herzegovina would continue as until now.
