ZAGREB AND VIENNA AUTHORITIES WILLING TO PROMOTE COOPERATION ZAGREB, Feb 15 (Hina) - Zagreb and Vienna have been closely culturally and politically linked in history, but the current cooperation between these two central European cities is not satisfactory, said delegations of the two cities, that held a meeting in the Croatian capital's townhall on Tuesday. Asserting that there are many areas in which authorities of the two cities can further their cooperation, the chairman of the Zagreb City Assembly, Zlatko Canjuga, suggested that Zagreb and Vienna soon sign an agreement on cooperation. Vienna's delegation, led by alderman Otto Schwetz, accepted Canjuga's proposal. Schwetz said cities in the area around the Danube river must establish stronger ties in future in order to assume good positions within the European Union. He added his city would be willing to upgrade relations with Zagreb. Vienna's delegation, which included also Austrian Ambassa

Vienna's delegation, which included also Austrian Ambassador to Croatia, Rudolf Bogner, announced "Days of Vienna in Zagreb" for June. That multi-cultural event will consist of a seminar on ecology, an exhibition on the Vienna architecture, other events and the crown of the days is to be a concert of the Vienna philharmonic orchestra and the Ball of the city of Vienna in Zagreb. One of signs that the cooperation between the two cities is going to be promoted is Tuesday's opening of an exhibition, entitled "New Urban Strategy - Zagreb 200 Plus" in Vienna. (hina) ms
