ZAGREB, Feb 15 (Hina) - Croatia's National Sabor President, Zlatko Tomcic, on Tuesday held talks with a delegation of parliamentary deputies of the young democrats of the Hungarian civic party (FIDESZ) on the position of the Hungarian
and Croatian minorities in the two neighbouring countries and on the bilateral ties. Tomcic described the cooperation between Hungary and Croatia as exemplary. He and his guest agreed that the issue of national minorities was solved well in both countries and that they should make joint efforts caring for their compatriots in third countries, particularly in the care about the position of the Hungarian and Croatian community in Vojvodina, northern Yugoslavia. Tomcic, on Tuesday held talks with a delegation of parliamentary
deputies of the young democrats of the Hungarian civic party
(FIDESZ) on the position of the Hungarian and Croatian minorities
in the two neighbouring countries and on the bilateral ties.
Tomcic described the cooperation between Hungary and Croatia as
exemplary.
He and his guest agreed that the issue of national minorities was
solved well in both countries and that they should make joint
efforts caring for their compatriots in third countries,
particularly in the care about the position of the Hungarian and
Croatian community in Vojvodina, northern Yugoslavia.
Commenting on the position of Hungarian Croats, the head of the
Hungarian delegation, FIDESZ Vice-President Jozsef Szajer,
assessed that Croats had a developed administration in areas of
Hungary where they live. He added that the Government in Budapest
was preparing several laws to promote rights of Hungarian Croats
such as the issue of religious education for minorities, the
opening of libraries and other institutions.
The talks also revolved around the toll road linking between
Budapest and the Croatian biggest seaport of Rijeka. The Hungarians
pointed to the importance of the seaport of Rijeka for their
country.
They considered the resumption of negotiations for the merger of
oil companies INA and MOL.
The head of the Hungarian delegation Szajer delivered Tomcic an
invitation to visit the Hungarian parliament.
