KARLOVAC KARLOVAC, Feb 12 (Hina) - Experts from the US company 'Chem Tech', scientists from Zagreb's Institute 'Rudjer Boskovic' and members of a Croatian mine removal centre from Sisak presented a new American X-ray device for the
detection of mines in the Karlovac suburb of Turanj on Saturday. Croatia is the first country the device is being tested in. The removal of mines with this device is 40 times speedier than when mines are removed manually. It is also safer because there is no direct contact with mines and it is cheaper, said the head of the Croatian mine removal centre, Damir Gorseta. Attending the presentation were also its inventor of the device, Henry Blair, and the wife of Croatian Premier Ivica Racan, Diana Plestina, who organised the arrival of US experts and the testing of the device on mine fields in Croatia.(hina) rml
