SARAJEVO, Feb 5 (Hina) - The Independent Media Commission (IMC) in Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday warned all media in the country to observe a media blackout ahead of the second round of presidential elections in Croatia. The ban on
electioneering starts in the first minutes of February 6 and remains in force until the closing of all polling stations on February 7, the IMC said in a statement in Sarajevo. The rules for the Bosnian media are the same as those in Croatia: forbidden is the broadcasting of any election materials, including paid political ads, campaigns, opinion polls, forecasts or an early announcement of election results and statements by candidates or parties. Any violation of the Croatian Law on Elections by the BH media will be considered a violation of conditions under which the electronic media have obtained their temporary airing permits, which will result in appropriate penalties, the IMC said.(hina) rm
