result of the presidential elections in Croatia, Croatian Party of
Rights (HSP) presidential candidate Anto Djapic, Croatian Populace
Party (HPS) candidate Tomislav Mercep, New Croatia (NH) party
candidate Ante Prkacin, and independent candidates Slaven Letica,
Ante Ledic, and Zvonimir Separovic gained less than ten percent of
the vote. These are their statements on the results of the

Ante Ledic said that the results of the elections were the
consequence of his short political life, and lack of support given
to other candidates. He added he would support candidate of the
coalition of the Croatian Social Liberal party (HSLS)/ Social
Democratic Party (SDP) Drazen Budisa in the second round of the
elections.
Commenting on the first unofficial results of the elections,
presidential candidate of the Croatian Populace Party (HPS)
Tomislav Mercep expressed a belief that after the announcement of
the final results he would be sixth which is in line with his
expectations. His campaign aimed at the promotion of the HPS.
Independent candidate Zvonimir Separovic believes that the result
of the elections is a consequence of political relation of powers,
adding that none of the independent candidates had real chances for
entering the second round of elections.
Ante Prkacin was not surprised by the results. He said that his
party would remain active until the president is elected. Prkacin
said he would soon decide which one of the two candidates to
support.
