MESIC HOLDS ELECTORAL RALLY IN VARAZDIN

VARAZDIN, Jan 20 (Hina) - Presidential candidate for the Croatian People's Party (HNS), Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS), Liberal Party (LS) and Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS) coalition, Stipe Mesic, held an electoral rally in Varazdin Thursday night. "Croatia is today in a collapse, privatisation during war-time should never have been allowed, citizens should never have been terrorised with European associations and internal enemies, and robbery was done in the presence of authority," Mesic said. The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) had lost authority because it had allowed the stealing and war profiteering "How was it possible for Croatia to, for so many years, set aside funds for Bosnia-Herzegovina, and did not have funds to solve its own social issues," Mesic asked. He added Croatia today was changing policy, turning towards Europe and is asking it for help. "There is nothing to those who are afraid that the coalition of six parties would steal from the country, because everything has already been robbed. These parties will control each other, to the benefit of all citizens," Mesic said. Croatia must begin functioning as a legal and legally strong state, he stressed. (hina) lml
