'I CAN DO, WANT, KNOW MORE THAN ANY OTHER CANDIDATE' - CLAIMS LEDIC

GOSPIC, Jan 19 (Hina) - "I can do, want, and know more than any other candidate, and this is the basic reason for my candidacy," independent presidential candidate Ante Ledic said on Wednesday presenting his programme in Gospic, central Croatia. According to Ledic, Croatia's biggest problems lie in the economy. He said the privatisation had been done at the wrong time and in the wrong way. "While some fought in the war, others got wealthy and in great part destroyed Croatian economy," Ledic said, adding companies were purchased by people who did not deserve them, mainly without capital, whose first move was to fire people. If elected Croatia's new president, Ledic said that as a businessman he intended to lead the state in a way that will never go against the interest of the Croatian people. As an independent presidential candidate, Ledic said he could correct and be the counter-balance to the two-third majority in parliament. He stressed his political position was neither left, nor right, but upright on the rampart of his people and the Croatian homeland. This is a very serious time, for serious people and not for jokes, Ledic said, adding he was willing to put his personal interests aside and sacrifice for the common good. (hina) ha
