ZAGREB, Jan 18 (Hina) - The Croatian pension Insurance Fund will end the year 1999 with a deficit of 100 to 150 million kuna (US$13 to 20 million), which represents a drastic deficit reduction in the pension fund. The reduction of
deficit occurred thanks to resources of 1.2 million kuna (about US$160,000) allocated through a rescheduling of the budget, Government measures for a more effective payment of contributions and a regular control of this payment. Last December the Fund paid pensions of a billion and 600 million kuna (about US$21 million) and expenses connected to the payment of 43.2 million kuna (US$5.76 million). In December about 1.16 million pensioners were registered. The average pension was 1,215 kuna (about US$162).(hina) lml
