ZAGREB, Jan 14 (Hina) - The Croatian Foreign Ministry on Friday issued a statement confirming two Croatian citizens were killed in a plane crash in Libya on Thursday, and extended its condolences to their families.

The statement says Croatian citizens Branko Micklenic and Dusko
Jancic lost their lives in the crash of a Swiss company Avisto Ltd.-
owned aeroplane in the vicinity of the Libyan coast on January 13.
Due to failure in both engines, the Swiss carrier's plane Shorts
SD360 was forced to land on sea and shortly sank. There were 41
passengers and three members of the crew on board. All passengers
were employees of Libyan oil company Sirte Oil.
According to an official statement from Avisto Ltd., there were 19
survivors among the 41 passengers, 17 died, and five are still
listed as missing. Besides the two Croats, the victims include five
Britons, three Libyans, two Canadians and two Filipinos, and one
Indian, one Pakistani, and one Tunisian.
