ZAGREB, Jan 12 (Hina) - According to unofficial sources,
Wednesday's session of the Croatian Democratic Union's Presidency
should discuss a conflict among the party leadership which, judging
by public appearances of party heads, is culminating in the past
several days.
The HDZ vice president and a candidate at presidential elections,
Mate Granic, left the session. He told reporters that at the session
he demanded that the Presidency discontinue all conflicts. Unless
this is done, I will make some radical moves, Granic said. When
asked to explain which moves would that be, Granic told reporters
they would be informed of that in the near future. He added that he
expected to receive the support of the Presidency.
"I believe I can win at the presidential elections", Granic
stressed. I am greatly accepted at electoral rallies, and each of
the rallies organised so far were excellent, he added.
"I have a clear programme, and I believe that I have skills
necessary for performing president's duties much better than other
candidates.
I don't have to change anything from what I have been doing in the
past eight and a half years, Granic stressed.
"Therefore I will firmly fight, but I cannot run the campaign with
the current situation in the HDZ Presidency", said Granic.
I will completely and entirely personalise my campaign, he added.
When asked why he did not stay until the end of the session, Granic
said he was just on his way to several electoral rallies.
