PRISTINA, Dec 22 (Hina) - The UN Mission to Kosovo's task force, which includes representatives of official Belgrade and the elected government of Kosovo, will not have the same role as the former Kosovo interim administration
council, Mission spokeswoman Susan Manuel said in Pristina on Saturday. The task force will not make decisions but only discuss various issues, she said, adding a body similar to the interim council would continue to operate and include elected representatives of the Kosovo parliament, who will meet with the UN civil administrator in the southern Yugoslav province on a regular basis. The Kosovo Albanian political representatives have said they will not recognise the task force, set up by the UN Mission and the Belgrade authorities, and demand freezing its operation. PRISTINA, Dec 22 (Hina) - The UN Mission to Kosovo's task force,
which includes representatives of official Belgrade and the
elected government of Kosovo, will not have the same role as the
former Kosovo interim administration council, Mission spokeswoman
Susan Manuel said in Pristina on Saturday.
The task force will not make decisions but only discuss various
issues, she said, adding a body similar to the interim council would
continue to operate and include elected representatives of the
Kosovo parliament, who will meet with the UN civil administrator in
the southern Yugoslav province on a regular basis.
The Kosovo Albanian political representatives have said they will
not recognise the task force, set up by the UN Mission and the
Belgrade authorities, and demand freezing its operation. They
maintain the task force represents a parallel mechanism of
authority which is not envisaged by the UN Security Council's
Resolution 1244.
