SPLIT, Dec 18 (Hina) - "Slobodna Dalmacija" daily in Tuesday's
issue brings an exclusive piece of information, citing well

Gotovina, after whom the UN war crimes tribunal (ICTY) issued an
international arrest warrant, was hiding in Canada, under the

Gotovina is under the protection of Croats in Canada's Norwall,
read the headline of the article of the Croatian daily.
According to a Slobodna Dalmacija reporter, well informed sources
claim that Gotovina is under the protection of the so-called
"Norwall Group" and that the former general arrived in Canada with
the help of father Petar Krasic from Siroki Brijeg. Father Krasic
dismissed this claim.
According to the daily, the Norwall centre was the headquarters of
the members of the so-called resistance group - a group of Croatian
emigrants.
The article also reads: "It looks like the ICTY Chief Prosecutor
Carla del Ponte is also aware of Gotovina's newest shelter and
intends to request Gotovina's extradition from the Canadian
authorities." The article ends in these words: "In the attempt to
check out the claims of reliable sources we have called the Croatian
centre in Norwall, but the answer was categorical: Look for general
Gotovina elsewhere!"
Del Ponte's spokeswoman, Florence Hartmann, told the daily she was
neither able to confirm nor dismiss the information.
Asked to comment on the latest information on Gotovina's
whereabouts, Canadian Ambassador to Croatia Dennis A. Snider
expressed disbelief and said this was a completely bizarre gossip.
Croatian government spokeswoman Aleksandra Kolaric said the
government had no comment at the moment.
