ZAGREB, Dec 14 (Hina) - The third, updated edition of the book
"Croatian Spring" by Miko Tripalo was presented in Zagreb on
Friday. Present at the ceremony were the family, friends and
admirers of the Croatian politician and lawyer, including his
closest associate from 1971, Savka Dabcevic-Kucar.
Speaking about the author and the book, President Stjepan Mesic
said the book "Croatian Spring" shed light on the mosaic of a time
which gave a progressive core of Croatia's policy, including Miko
Tripalo, Savka Dabcevic-Kucar, Pero Pirker, and Ivan Sibl, and
grounds for later events.
Croatian Spring was a movement for democratisation, Europesation,
equality and "even accounts", which left deep traces important for
the creation of the Croatian state in 1990, said Mesic and added
that besides the force opting for the Croatian state, it also
"seeded" a constitutional and legal possibility by which the world
could recognise us.
The Croatian politician and lawyer Miko Tripalo (Sinj, 1926 -
Zagreb, 1995) was a member of the narrowest Croatian and Yugoslav
political leadership, and a central figure of Croatian Spring, a
massive national and democratic movement in Croatia of thirty years
ago. Tripalo was removed from public life and forced to a long-term
silence in Dec. 1971.
