Today, when the entire world is marking International Human Rights
Day, Croatia has another opportunity to clearly and without any
reserves reaffirm its commitment to the respect and exercising of
basic human rights, the President said in a statement.
By the will of the majority of the electorate, since the beginning
of 2000 Croatia has started carrying out a policy of complete
democratisation, the rule-of-law and the respect and enforcement
of human rights, said Mesic. Croatian legislation is good, but our
practice considerably lags behind what the law stipulates, he
added.
