VINKOVCI VINKOVCI, Dec 4 (Hina) - Laid off members of the special police left the main entrance of the Vinkovci police department building around 3PM Tuesday thus discontinuing a protest which saw them demanding their jobs. The
Vukovar-Srijem County police department head Marijan Tomurad said a certain agreement was reached with the special police in line with the Interior Ministry's promise that not one laid off policeman would remain unprovided for. Tomurad did not want to specify the details of the agreement, only expressing satisfaction with it. A total of 575 officers of the Vukovar-Srijem County police were laid off this summer as part of a reorganisation undertaken by the Interior Ministry. A delegation of laid off policemen from Karlovac visited the Interior Ministry today and were promised their status would be resolved soon.
