ZAGREB ZAGREB, Dec 4 (Hina) - Housing issues, particularly the financing, improvement of legal frameworks and the promotion of regional cooperation in Southeast Europe are the main topics of a two-day international meeting on housing
which started in Zagreb on Tuesday. The meeting was organised by the Council of Europe and has gathered representatives of Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania, Hungary, Yugoslavia and Croatia. According to data presented at the meeting, an average monthly wage is sufficient for the purchase of one square metre of an apartment in west European countries while in Croatia, two to three monthly wages are necessary for the purchase of one square metre. In Croatia, 95 percent of apartments are privately owned, while in west Europe 50 percent of apartments are privately owned, and the rest are rented apartments.(hina) it sb
