ZAGREB, Nov 27 (Hina) - A protocol on the mechanisms of exchanging data on people smuggling was signed at the Second regional forum of south-east European ministers, within the framework of the Stability Pact, in Zagreb on Tuesday.
Assistant Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic told journalists the protocol was also supported by non-government and international organisations, such as the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the European Commission, the International Organisation for Migration, the Southeast European Cooperative Initiative, Europol, and Interpol, whose representatives participated in the forum. Bosnian European Integration Minister Dragan Mikerevic said Bosnia-Herzegovina had confirmed it was ready to get in the way of smuggling on its territory, and that it did not want to be a route for illegal migrations and slave trade. Countries which obliged themselves to cooperate in fighting the
smuggling of people by signing the Protocol are: Albania, Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldavia, Romania,
Slovenia, Yugoslavia and Turkey. Austria, the Czech Republic,
Hungary, Switzerland and the United States, whose diplomatic
representatives attended the forum together with representatives
of Greece and Italy, supported the document and its signatories.
