ZAGREB, Nov 22 (Hina) - President Stjepan Mesic and members of the Permanent Council of the Croatian Bishops' Conference, headed by its president, the archbishop of Zagreb, Msgr Josip Bozanic, met at the President's Office Thursday.
The Office said in a statement the two sides expressed a wish for continuous and more effective dialogue, and agreed that meetings on this level should be held several times a year. Mesic informed the Croatian bishops about the results of his recent international visits (Slovakia, Israel, USA), as well as about his plans and initiatives. He also presented his views on the economic and social situation in Croatia. The council's members informed the president about their views, the activities of the Church and opinions presented in a recent bishops' message. They expressed the Church's willingness to contribute, with its activities, to the well-being of the state and society.(hina) np sb
